Presbytery supported the eduction of Jeff Seaton with an educational support grant in 2016. Jeff was granted his Doctor of Ministry degree from Duke Divinity School at Duke University, North Carolina in December 2016. The Reverend Doctor Jeff Seaton (or in abbreviation, Rev. Dr.) still answers to a simple “Jeff.”
Jeff’s studies focused on leadership in the modern church, and his doctoral dissertation is titled “Who’s Minding the Story: The United Church of Canada Meets A Secular Age.” The dissertation is available at the link.
This adds a perspective to the discussion as to where we go today and in the years to come as a United Church.
The 2017 MSG forms are now available online if your pastoral charge is considering applying for a grant. As you are aware, completing the MSG 5 application online is by far the best way of applying. The form is: form_msg5.
Also, for further information about filling out the form: MSG 3: The Mission Support Application Process [PDF: 6 pp/47 KB]
The national website cautions you to check with your local Conference to make sure the form has not been modified. Don’t be concerned about that. B.C. Conference is using the form as it appears online. The form you need is MSG 5. You do not need form MSG 7.
If you are planning on applying please note that I need to have your application emailed to me at email@example.com by October 11, 2016. This year the timing is tight for receiving your applications. If you anticipate that you cannot make the Oct. 11 deadline, please contact me so we can discuss it further. Thanks.
If you have any questions please contact me.

KOP Home Missions Convenor
