A new resource for worship is now available free at HymnSight.ca . This is a huge catalogue of photos suitable for use in worship. The thousands of slides were photographed by Ralph Milton for use at First United Church in Kelowna. All are copyright cleared for non-profit church use. They are now being made available to all denominations and around the world. In its first month of operation, more than 4,000 people from ten different countries visited the site.
HymnSight.ca has three parts. There is a “how-to” section that offers a solid and practical way for congregations of all sizes to add colorful resources to their worship. There’s a “suggestions” section that offers sets of slides useful for specific hymns. And there is a catalogue of slides, filed under a variety of topics, so that users can put together slide sets for the hymns and songs they choose, or use them to add color and meaning to the rest of the liturgy. Plus many other users.
The materials on HymnSight.ca are free for unlimited use by churches and church-related organizations for non-profit use. Even if you do not yet have projector, screen, etc., check out the “Instruction Story” to discover how you might move in that direction. And many of the slides will be useful for newsletters, sermon illustrations and Christian education.
